NECK PAIN: A Logical Approach You Probably Haven't Tried I came to his office as a result of lifelong headaches, (4 or more times a week) that made my head feel as if it was going to blow off of my shoulders. My doctors could not find anything wrong, and I was not willing to take pain killers, muscle relaxants and "live with it". Rick was very kind, extremely gentle, and conservative in handling my head and neck. After my second adjustment, I was able to turn my head (instead of turning my entire body) to back my car out of his lot--this was amazing, it really worked! Rick Morris is the only person that I trust implicitly to touch my head and neck. I firmly believe that Rick Morris saved my life, and I will forever be grateful to him. --Kathy Marks; Acupuncturist who we discovered had a congenital brain/spine abnormality that required an extremely specific and delicate spinal treatment. Your head can feel heavy and difficult to hold, your shoulders feel as if they're coming up to your ears and the ache is starting to travel to the top of your head. When you're feeling like this, it's hard to function, be a good parent, focus at work or just be happy. For some, the pain isn't achy but sharp and refers down your arm, the back of your head or to your middle back. So, What's Wrong With My Neck And What Do I Do About It? Most of my patients have already seen at least one or two doctors. They were usually told that their problem was due to: Stress A Pinched Nerve Arthritis Muscle Spasms, or A Disc Herniation But the treatments they were offered didn't really help. Sometimes surgery or spinal injections were recommended, but they wanted to find another way. Medications were often recommended, but they never got to the cause of the problem and, at best, just allowed you to get by. Now you've decided to find an answer and know there's a better approach than you've been given. The Logical Approach We agree and that's why we call it the Logical Approach. Let's start with the 6 reasons for most neck pain. They are:
Most difficult conditions have a combination of these problems and each one has to be treated to really eliminate the pain and stop it from coming back. Other conditions such as osteoarthritis and spurring also fit into these categories and are treated just as effectively. Rarely, spinal cord or bone disorders occur and must be ruled out during the inital examination. But, most neck pain sufferers suffer from one or a combination of these problems. They all have a specific symptoms and an equally specific treatment. Our office differs than most by NEVER just masking symptoms. We treat the problem. Most of our patients are substantially better within a couple of weeks and wonder why they have put up with their problem for so many years.
